The opportunity to create a brand as dynamic as the NFT space has been marinating in my mind since I first joined the BAYC – but it took a while to fully coalesce. As a life-long creative I was fascinated with the incredible power of decentralized IP.
I began to seriously explore the possibilities and first floated the idea of an NFT-related alcohol brand with some new friends on the Night the Apes Ate last November.
Access to a phenomenal vodka product presented a unique opportunity to create a Web3 spirits brand from the ground up. Realizing that I wouldn’t be able to do this alone, I assembled a talented team and we got to work.

THE 288 is the evolving narrative of the adventures of Badteeth and the @288Gang , their story is the heart of #THE288 brand.
A world-class farm-to-bottle potato vodka sold exclusively via NFT is our first consumer product.
We had initially planned to do a live mint in NYC during ApeFest / NFT NYC, but with the market conditions at the time it just didn’t feel right. So instead we decided to just have a fun low-key event and share what we were building with some friends.
The story of the 288 Gang, masterfully illustrated and brought to life by Jeff McMillan and Ryan Marcus, and @TheRoostNYC – a former speakeasy on the Lower East Side, set the stage for the soft launch of THE 288 on June 22, 2022.
The brand story, art, and vodka were great, however the people that showed up that night were what truly made it special. A mix of creators, collectors, investors, and friends gathered to have a good time and trade ideas and dreams.
Watching this group of Web3 enthusiasts and newcomers sharing their experiences and future plans was magical. It reminded me of the early Clubhouse days and what captivated me about the NFT space in the first place.
This night was the catalyst for what THE 288 will become – a unique community of Web3 and NFT pioneers, gathered together in the name of progressing the space.
THE 288 is centered around inclusion, education, and advancement of this seismic technological shift that is empowering an entire new generation of creativity and opportunity.
THE 288 will mint at .288 ETH this Sunday, August 28th, on a smart contract by @TransientLabs to an allowlist of friends and people we respect in the NFT space. There will be 288 tokens total, with 10% held back for the team and future marketing opportunities. Once a new member mints they’ll be able to invite a +1 to the allowlist, helping us to expand the group and build a truly diverse community.
