THE BACKSTORY
They’re good at being bad... The year is 20XX and an extra dimensional asteroid comprised of an alien mineral collides with planet Earth. The dust from the resulting explosion wipes out humanity, leaving canines to survive as the dominant species. As life continues on, these canines evolve into bipedal sentient beings, rebuilding society in their own image. Warring feudal states begin to erupt, as splintered factions fight for control of the land and resources whilst strange visitors lurk in the shadows..
The largest territory - THE YARD - is controlled by the most violent set, known as the Pack Mafia (Led by Grimey) and serves as a barrier to the WASTELANDS where all the mineral deposits are concentrated. This crystallized mineral, known as Lupitite, is a rare commodity and a vital resource coveted by all the canids. The Pack controls mining access, charges protection fees and watches every movement in the refinery. Their methods of enforcement are often brutal and noncompliance can sometimes lead to death.
BONETOWN, locally known as B-TOWN, is controlled by King and his Brawlers. B-Town is also home to the boneyard, a research lab (a great place to upgrade equipment), the Colosseum (a place Mob Boss Grimey dreams of performing), some shops and other luxury amenities. The Boneyard is a treasure trove of bones (the only other currency besides Lupitite), machine parts and tech artifacts. King and his gang keep order with a cool head. The harmony between Bonetown and The Yard is essential for the stability of Green 1.
Bayside was once home to a thriving theme park, until a massive storm destroyed the area and it’s inhabitants. Now the ruins of the park are ground zero for Green 1’s black market. BAYSIDE HEIGHTS is the place to obtain rare pilfered goods (raw lupitite crystals, mysterious tech, rare antiques). Its leader Homer and his gang (known as the Bayside Bandits) use the proceeds from their illegal trade to feed the poor and maintain Bayside as a sanctuary for the downtrodden.
Unfortunately Homer gets caught sneaking around in the mines by the mafia and gets into a dangerous battle. He makes his escape but finds members of the Pack (he calls them Yardies) waiting for him when he returns to Bayside. Fortunately there are a few Brawlers and Bandits there to intervene, but this infraction by Homer ignites a feud between Bayside and The Yard.
Little Osaka is the historical region of Green 1, with landmarks still standing from the epoch of man. Led by Obachan, her grandson Gekitaro and the Orion Set, this territory is home to the Akita Shrine and the Little Osaka Castle. It sits in a historically Japanese neighborhood located in what was likely a non Japanese country, and functions as a living museum rife with artifacts. There is also a snack district, home to a multitude of convenience stores packed with bento, sweets and other savory treats. This makes it a destination for dogs all throughout the area.
Can peace be restored? It’s Pound Puppies meets Akira and Fist of the North Star...
